HBO's miniseries John Adams and AMC's drama series Mad Men were the big hits at Saturday night's Creative Arts Primetime Emmys in Los Angeles. John Adams earned eight awards, the most for the evening, while Mad Men took home four, including awards for hairstyling, art direction, cinematography, and main title design. (Here's the complete list of winners).

We'll find out just how much Academy voters love Mad Men on Sept. 21, when the show competes for Outstanding Drama Series at the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards. For EW.com's complete Emmys coverage, including bracket games to name the best Emmy-winning drama and comedy of all time, click here.

Other notable 2008 Creative Arts Emmy winners include Kathy Griffin, whose Bravo reality show My Life on the D-List was awarded its second ''Schmemmy''; Sarah Silverman, whose song ''I'm F---ing Matt Damon,'' penned for Jimmy Kimmel Live, was recognized for its original music and lyrics; The Simpsons, which earned its 10th trophy for best animated program, one hour or less; and Sci Fi's Battlestar Galactica, which nabbed its second consecutive Emmy for special visual effects.

Battlestar Galactica is among the shows competing for Best Drama in EW.com's first annual EWwy Awards, which honor the series, actors, and actresses snubbed in the Emmy nominating process. Battlestar is currently tied with Fox's Bones in the EWwy top drama category, ahead of NBC's Friday Night Lights and HBO's The Wire and Big Love.
