IJS condemns assassinating Saray

Baghdad (NINA) –The Iraqi Journalists Syndicate condemned assassinating the journalist, Riyadh Jabar al-Saray, was assassinated by unidentified gunmen in western Baghdad on Tuesday morning.

A statement by the IJS cited “This coward crime comes within the series of crimes against the Iraqi journalists who accomplish their professional duties to convey truth for public,” noting that “More than 350 journalists killed while performing their duties in conveying the free word.”

IJS called to the security forces and the judicial authorities to do their best to pursue the criminals.

“IJS urged to endorse the Journalists Protection Law to ensure the security of the journalists and media institutes,” the statement concluded. /End/
