The University
History
Founded in 1978, UCA has efficiently dedicated the last thirty years to meet the joint challenges of massive increase in student numbers and transformations on social need for education and research.
The scope of its disciplinary competencies has expanded over the years; at the same time, its role in preparing students for new professions got asserted.
UCA has currently 13 institutions located in 2 regions of the kingdom: Marrakech Tensift Elhaouz and Abda Doukkala. It covers 4 university cities: Marrakech, Kalaa of Sraghna, Essaouira and Safi.

Cadi Ayyad University in Orbit!
Following the fruitful cooperation around the Morocco Oukaimeden Sky Survey Project with several discoveries among which 3 are major ones (2 comets and one Neo), the asteroid 2007 NQ3 was baptized Cadi Ayyad in homage to the University of Marrakech.

On Thursday 1st March 2012, in the headquarters of the presidency of the University, an agreement was signed between Cadi Ayyad University Marrakech, represented by its President Mr. Abdellatif Miraoui and the Moroccan Industrial and Commercial Property Office (OMPIC) represented by its Managing Director Mr. Adil al Maliki and in the presence of officials from both institutions and some professors from the University.
Discovery of a new comet
After the discovery of its first comet on 25th November, 2011, the 500 mm telescope at Oukaimeden Observatory made a similar achievement by confirming another discovery on 13th February of a second comet named C/2012 CH17 MOSS.

In gratitude for the work he has done all along 31 years of service in Cadi Ayyad University, Mr. Mohamed MAALIL's retirement was celebrated in an official ceremony chaired by The President of the University, Mr. Abdellatif MIRAOUI and held in the presence of the two Vice Presidents and the acting Secretary General on Monday 2nd January 2012 in the meeting room of the Presidency.
This ceremony was also an opportunity to introduce Mrs. Imane KERKAB the new Secretary General to all the Presidency staff.
Excursions in the world of Chemistry and Materials
Professor Mostapha BOUSMINA, Chancellor of Hassan II Academy of Science and Technology of Morocco, gave a lecture under the theme: "Excursions in the world of Chemistry and Materials", on Friday 23rd December, 2011 at the faculty of Science Semlalia of Marrakech, the biography of the lecturer was presented as an introduction by the President of the University Mr. Abdellatif MIRAOUI. The Lecture took 2 hours and got very positive feedback from the many research professors and students who attended.
Visit of the Morocco-France-Spain Twinning experts to Cadi Ayyad University
The President of Cadi Ayyad University Mr.Abdellatif MIRAOUI, with the two Vice Presidents and the Secretary General held on Monday 12th December, 2011 at 9.00 a.m. in the headquarters of the presidency a work session with the French and Spanish Twinning experts.

Visit of Murcia University‘s delegation to UCA
Mr. President Mohammed Marzak, received on 4th May , 2011 at the Presidency headquarters , a delegation from the University of Murcia (Spain), led by Prof. Gaspar Ros Berruezo. Through the discussions, opportunities for cooperation between the Campus of Excellence Mare Nostrum (NJC), the National Center for Study and Research on the Sahara (NRAC) and the National Centre for Study and Research Water and Energy (CNEREE) have emerged.

Visit of the President of the International University of Tokyo to UCA
Mr. Tsugio Tajiri, President of Tokyo International University (TIU) pays a working visit to Cadi Ayyad University between 25th and 28th January 2011. The program of the visit includes:
a working meeting at the Presidency of the University. The meeting, chaired by Mr. Mohamed Marzak and Mr. Tsugio Tajiri was concluded by the signing of a cooperation agreement.

Death of Professor Lembarki Alami

Cadi Ayyad University has lost one of its valorous teachers in the person of the late Lembarki Alami. Mr. Lembarki was one of the first doctorates in mathematics recruited to the Faculty of Science Semlalia. Specialized in numerical analysis, Mr. Lembarki, among others, trained many researcher professors at the University in the domain of Mathematics. The death of the lamented occurred in Rabat on January 18th, 2011 following a long illness. We belong to God and to Him we return. |

XXVIII IAU General Assembly
With almost 10000 individual members and more than 60 member countries, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) is one of the largest scientific societies in the world. Morocco has joined the IAU via the National Center of Coordination and Planning of Scientific and Technical Research (CNRST) in 1988. Since 2010 it is Cadi Ayyad University of Marrakech that asserts the accession of Morocco to the IAU.
