Fathi Ismail, an Egyptian consular consultant, managed to end the protest of 4,000 Egyptian seasonal labourers at King Abdul Aziz Airport in Saudi Arabia Wednesday.

Some 4,000 Egyptian labourers who came to transfer luggage in King Abdul Aziz Airport for the pilgrimage season staged a sit-in Wednesday noon at the airport when a Saudi employee working in the office of the agency dealing with luggage aggressed an Egyptian worker.

Ismail was commissioned by Adel El-Alfy, Egypt's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, along with consular representatives headed by Mohamed Al-Sharif, Egyptian consul in Jeddah, to resolve the protest which halted luggage transfers for a  few hours.

Al-Sharif managed with Saudi airport officials and security leaders to make the Saudi employee apologise to the Egyptian labourer for slapping him.

Al-Sharif also managed to get released four Egyptian labourers who were arrested earlier by Saudi security forces during clashes.
