College Initiatives

Under the leadership of Dean Chester Gillis, Georgetown College is dedicated to building a holistic, scholarly community that encourages academic excellence and pedagogical innovation.

Flagship course offerings, such as the Ignatius and Liberal Art Seminars, enable first-year students to work closely with senior faculty members and explore complex ideas over one or two semesters.

The Baker Scholars Program brings together select liberal arts majors with a demonstrated commitment to community service and a passion for business, and pairs students with alumni mentors who lead some of the nation’s most prominent corporations.

These and other College Initiatives—including the ongoing addition of new majors, minors, and certificates, the expansion of the science curriculum and faculty, and the inclusive role of the student-led College Academic Council—exemplify the ever-evolving nature of Georgetown College.
