The Israel Lobby in Action

TomFlocco.comThe French intelligence website reported that detained Israeli “art students” and “moving company workers,” strangely released by U.S. authorities after the worst attack on American soil in history were actually “employed by tech companies, military special forces, intelligence officers, explosive ordinance/combat engineers, electronic intercept operators and the son of an Israeli army general.” - ( IntelligenceOnline.com Paris, France )

In a recent insider speech before the powerful pro-Israel Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP), Patrick Clawson suggested that a false flag incident be used to get the U.S. to attack Iran.

Clawson is a pro-Israel Middle East psuedo-analyst who often appears as a "pundit" on television news broadcasts; WINEP is a spinoff of the major Washington DC lobbying organization, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer, who has failed to report on Clawson's startling remarks, used to work for WINEP. Before that Blitzer was "the voice of Israel," appearing on US TV and radio broadcasts to promote Israeli interests.

According to his offPatrick Clawsonicial bio, Patrick Clawson "is a widely published writer and media commentator, he has authored more than seventy articles about the Middle East and international economics as well as twelve books or studies on Iran. He appears frequently on television and radio, and has published op-ed articles in major newspapers including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post."

Clawson has testified before congressional committees more than twenty times and has served as an expert witness in more than a dozen federal cases. Before joining The Washington Institute, he was at the National Defense University's Institute for National Strategic Studies, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, and at the Foreign Policy Research Institute.

The Israel lobby has been pushing for a war against Iran for many years.

For example, the Jewish Federation of New Jersey has a page with action items and resources, including a paper by Clawson, for its members to use against Iran.

In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Clawson was brought to speak on "A Nuclear Iran: A Threat to Humanity."  The sponsoring organizations were the Community and Public Affairs Council of the United Jewish Federation; American Israel Public Affairs Committee; Anti-Defamation League; Bnai Zion, Pittsburgh Region; Greater Pittsburgh Rabbinic Association; Hadassah, Greater Pittsburgh Chapter; Holocaust Center of the United Jewish Federation; Pittsburgh Persian Gulf Initiative; Pittsburgh Chapter American Jewish Committee; Scholars for Peace in the Middle East; and Zionist Organization of America, Pittsburgh District.

False Flagging the Road to War [VIDEO]

The American Conservative - Scott McConnell has described the recent comments made by Patrick Clawson, director of research for the Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP), an organization founded by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and closely tied to the Israeli government. Clawson heads WINEP’s Iran Security Initiative. As Clawson’s comments are both quite extraordinary and revealing of a certain mindset, they deserve to be shared with a wider audience. In a briefing on September 24, Clawson said, "I frankly think that crisis initiation is really tough, and it’s very hard for me to see how the United States … uh … president can get us to war with Iran … The traditional way America gets to war is what would be best for U.S. interests."

"Some years ago a very, very senior UN official said to me, 'Zionism has corrupted everything it touched, including this organisation in its infancy.'"

The real history of the Six-Day War, Resolution 242, and a "two-state solution"

Electronic Intifada - On Friday, I wrote about the bullying and smear tactics of the Jewish Federation of New Mexico and its director Sam Sokolove, against the upcoming Friends of Sabeel-North America conference in Albuquerque on September 28-29 – tactics that I had experienced personally before a previous visit to New Mexico two years ago.

Rev. Donald Wagner, the National Program Director of Friends of Sabeel-North America (FOSNA), has spoken out calling for an end to the “interfaith bullying” by pro-Israel groups, a matter, Wagner says “that has flown under the radar for too long.”

AntiWar.com - If someone had planned to upend US foreign policy — to utterly destroy the very basis [.pdf] of all our diplomats (and military personnel) have been working to achieve in the Middle East and throughout the Muslim world — they couldn't have done a better job of it than whoever put together Innocence of Muslims.

972 Mag - Despite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s persistent claims that he is not meddling in the upcoming U.S. elections, a TV commercial that will air on select Florida networks on Thursday stars the Israeli leader. Released by Politico one day ahead of its scheduled broadcast, the ad features a bit from the prime minister’s recent speech, in which he criticizes the U.S. government for failing to establish sufficient “red lines” on Iran’s nuclear program.

Mondoweiss - One of the sidebar stories to Mitt Romney's self-destructive comments about half of the U.S. being entitled, the Palestinians wanting the destruction of Israel and the need to keep the status quo in Israel/Palestine is that he made the statements at the home of Marc Leder, a wealthy 50-year-old in the private equity industry. Leder and some of the other donors there have funded Jewish causes as well as politicians who espouse right-wing Zionism and Islamophobia.

News Chief - Netanyahu is insisting Obama draw bright "red lines" in front of Iran's nuclear program, which, if crossed, would provoke a U.S. military response. Otherwise, he suggests, Israel might go it alone, although the strategic consensus seems to be that an Israeli attack could only delay, not halt, Iran's nuclear program.

Once More Into the Breach

Written by

AntiWar.com - I really did not want to write about Israel again this week, but the outrageous manipulation of the Democratic Party platform, moves in California to make any criticism of Israel a hate crime, and news that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had dressed down the U.S. ambassador in the presence of a congressman before insisting that the United States has no moral right to judge Israel has made it unavoidable to go “once more into the breach, dear friends.”
