Riverside, CA — KUCR 88.3fm continues its series of cutting-edge “Comedy Apocalypse” shows at The Barn with a new 6th edition, featuring five critically acclaimed performers.  Four are well established comics at the top of their game and one is a rising star getting a buzz in the comedy circuit and returning for his second stint as MC of the show. The “Comedy Apocalypse” show, always held near the end of the academic quarter, is scheduled for Wednesday, November 14, 8:00pm, at UC Riverside’s Barn.  This is the most jammed-with-talent Comedy Apocalypse stand-up show KUCR and the Barn have ever presented.

As has become the tradition of the show, there is a wide range of perspectives and a diverse array of comic styles promising a very memorable show.

DAN LEVY, topping the bill, began doing comedy while a student at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts.  It wasn’t long before Dan was chosen to compete and subsequently won the title of “Funniest college comedian in America,” at HBO’s US Comedy Arts Festival.  Since then Dan has been seen in The Montreal Just For Laugh Comedy Festival and has made TV appearances on Comedy Central’s Premium BlendThe Late, Late, Show, The Andy Dick Show, and has hosted two series on MTV including “Your Face or Mine” and  “The Reality Show.” Dan wrote, produced, and starred in the television pilot “Almost Funny,” which was chosen as an official selection for the New York City Television Festival.  Dan writes and hosts “The Green Room with Dan Levy” a comedy talk show for CBS.com.  As an actor, he had a major role in the film “My Sexiest Year” starring Frankie Muniz and Harvey Keitel.  He appeared in the TV series The Office (2012), and has an on-going role the hit HBO series Enlightened, starring Laura Dern, which is about to begin airing its second season.

KEVIN SHEA is a Los Angeles based comedian and actor. He has done numerous television appearances which include Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and HBO’s Down n Dirty. In 2009, he was the winner of NBC’s Stand Up for Diversity. He has performed at over 50 colleges and universities across the USA.  Prior to coming to LA, Kevin was a staple of the San Francisco comedy scene where his unique and laid back style landed him a spot in the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival. Kevin can also be seen as a host on MNET’s Danny From LA.

SYDNEY CASTILLO is a stand-up comedian and actor who is currently the series lead on Lifetime’s Prank My Mom and is also starring in the In Living Color reboot specials on Fox TV.  He has been on HBO’s Bad Boys of Comedy, BET’s One Mic Stand, and has also made several appearances on BET’s Comics Unleashed.

JADE CATTA-PRETA is a stand-up comedian and actress who has appeared on MTV’s PUNK’D, TBS’s Sullivan and Son, 2 Broke Girls, TV Guide Channel’s Standup in Stilettos, Latino 101, The IT Chicks, Tyra Banks Show, and others.  She has performed at Caroline’s, the Comedy Store, the Laugh Factory, the Hollywood Improv and many other venues.  Like Dan Levy, Jade is a graduate of Emerson College, an institution which seems to be producing comedians at an alarming rate.

OMAR NAVA is a stand-up comedian, writer and performer now based in Hollywood, but originally from El Paso, TX.  A graduate of Rice University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he decided that mankind needed more comedy and fewer machines.  He moved to Los Angeles in 2010 and has since performed regularly at many notable clubs around Hollywood including The Hollywood ImprovThe Comedy Store.  He won first runner up in the Last Laff Standing Comedy Competition (2010), and was a finalist in The Inland Empire Comedy Contest (2011).  Omar is a writer for the sketch group Ant Farm Recess which can be found on YouTube.  His travels throughout the country and “ethnically ambiguous” look have shaped his comic voice and given him a unique perspective.  Nava hopes one day to combine his interests in engineering and comedy by creating the ultimate “comedy machine,” which would benevolently rule the planet, directing the fate of nations with clever puns and smart alec quipping.  Omar is returning for the second time as MC of KUCR’s Comedy Apocalypse VI.

This is a real-deal Comedy Club-type show, intended for a mature audience.  Tickets for the Comedy Apocalypse VI are $5 UCR students with ID, ADVANCE ONLY at UCR Theatre Box Office, $12 general, available @ Ticketmaster or UCR Theatre Box Office.
