Presidential spokesman Yasser Ali said the regime is open to dialogue about the constitution regardless of the outcome, in a press conference on Thursday.

“Regardless of whether people vote yes or no in the referendum, we will be open to dialogue,” Ali said during the conference, which took place at the presidential palace.

He added that Egypt’s economy is going through a “critical” phase that requires all of Egypt’s forces to work together. “We are all aware of the rules of democracy, the most important of which is the peaceful transfer of power,” Ali said. “Dialogue is the only solution for those who want a democracy.”

The second phase of the referendum will take place on 22 December.

We need a National Unity Government and a commission of truth and reconciliation
According to the new constitution the President does not belong to any particular party. He is the President of all Egyptian even if over 48% rejected him.In order to move forward we needs action not words. The dialogue with the opposition should involve them in participating in National Coalition Government for the sake of moving forward and unity. A commission for Truth and Reconciliation like what happened in South Africa is essential to clear the air and unite all Egyptian for building the country and not destroying it as we are observing. The media has a great responsibility in encouraging a climate of dialogue, reconciliation and National Unity.I hope my comments doe not fall on deaf ears on all parties involved.
