Virtual tour of St Leonard's Chapel
Situated within the grounds of St Leonard's School, St Leonard's Chapel is much smaller and more intimate than St Salvator's Chapel, seating approximately 60. It is built in traditional mediaeval style. As in St Salvator's Chapel, the pews face each other in collegial style.
The earliest parts of the building date from 1144, when the Augustinian Canons acquired the building. The chapel predates the foundation of the St Leonard's College and was used to provide shelter for pilgrims visiting the shrine of St Andrews. In the fifteenth century, the number of pilgrims declined and the buildings were eventually converted into the new college.
