The Newswomen's Club of New York has honored Pulitzer Center grantees Deborah Jian Lee and Sushma Subramanian with a 2012 Front Page Award for their story on Chinese bachelor villages. Their feature, honored in the radio feature category, aired on Chicago Public Radio.
The Pulitzer Center provided the two journalists with a grant to support their reporting in China. The result was their reporting project, "China's Bachelors: When Men Outnumber Women."
The Newswomen's Club of New York 2012 Front Page Awards honors 60 women for their work in 36 categories of reporting, ranging from newspaper, television, wire services, photography, radio and more. The club is the only professional organization devoted to supporting women journalists in the New York area. Winners of 2012 Front Page Awards will be honored on November 15 during a sold-out gala in New York City.
