Kent State University's eight-campus system is among the largest regional systems in the country, serving both the development of a true living/learning approach at the Kent Campus and the regional needs on seven other campuses throughout Northeast Ohio. The Pulitzer Center partners with the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) and the Gerald H. Read Center for International and Intercultural Education to bring journalists to campus – whether in person or via skype connections.

JMC provides professional undergraduate and master's programs within the liberal arts tradition and recognizes a responsibility to serve as a resource for professional practitioners, for media consumers, and for Kent State University. This responsibility extends to the identification and inclusion of historically underrepresented communities. Of the 105 accredited journalism schools in the country that compete in the Hearst Intercollegiate Writing Contest, the Pulitzer's of college journalism, Kent placed in the top 15 for four of the last six years (through 2011). The Carl E. Hirsch Media Convergence Laboratory, the result of the largest single gift in the School's history, is a prototype classroom of the future where students and faculty experiment with the latest technologies for news and information gathering, editing and production.

The Gerald H. Read Center for International and Intercultural Education serves as an international and intercultural resource for students and faculty of the College and Graduate School of Education, Health and Human Services and to the greater Kent and world community. The Read Center’s mission is to promote actively international and intercultural activities that will broaden intellectual perspectives, and, thereby, foster deeper ethical and humanitarian values while establishing person-to-person relationships that span international borders. Through the Read Center, the Pulitzer Center has connected with educators K-12 across the state of Ohio.
