Solidere has been reconstructing the Beirut City Center for over a decade after the Lebanese civil war Downtown Beirut in total destruction. Solidere has also performed restoration work in Downtown Beirut, particularly in the Conservation District. Beirut City Center Properties available now include residential, retail, and office and commercial space, both for sale and for lease. Investing in Solidere is a sound investment as Downtown Beirut offers a variety of facilities like modern infrastructure, shopping, dining, entertainment, outdoor activities, cultural events, retail stores, restaurants, a bustling nightlife, and active pedestrian areas. Several international institutions and corporations have chosen Beirut City Center for their Regional Headquarters, as have many government and civic institutions, consulates, embassies, and hotels. Of course, historical buildings are plentiful in the Beirut City Center, and the Master Plan has also created several archaeological parks that trace the history of the Beirut City Center thousands of years back. The Master Plan also includes several parks and outdoor spaces, as well as waterfront promenades and historical trails. The Heritage Trail is noteworthy. Solidere is also constructing two new Marinas. One of the Beirut Marinas will open in the summer of 2003 and is expected to become a major stop for pleasure boats traveling in the Eastern Mediterranean. The Beirut Souks for which Downtown Beirut was famous are also being restored.
