The major snowstorm headed for New England on Friday and Saturday will impact the region’s sports schedule.

A Saturday matinee at TD Garden between the Bruins and Lightning is scheduled for 1 p.m., but no word has come on the status of that game. But many other events have been postponed or canceled.

Here’s a look at postponements and other adjustments to the Boston-area sports schedule.

The Providence Bruins have postponed Friday’s home game vs. the Portland Pirates to Monday at 7:05 p.m. at Providence’s Dunkin’ Donuts Center.

The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association, the governing body for high school sports, postponed all of its section tournaments for high school wrestling and boys gymnastics. The 12 section tournaments for wrestling were rescheduled for Feb. 16. Because of the postponements, all division and state tournaments will also be pushed back a week. The boys gymnastics tournament will be pushed to Friday, Feb. 15.

The MIAA canceled the state boys and girls swimming sectionals and said they will not be rescheduled.

The Boston University/Merrimack men’s hockey game scheduled for Friday at Agganis Arena was moved to Feb. 26 at 7 p.m.

The UMass-Lowell/BC men’s hockey game was moved from Friday to Feb. 26, at 7 p.m.

Friday’s New Hampshire/Providence men’s hockey game at Providence has been rescheduled for Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. at Schneider Arena.

Saturday’s women’s ice hockey game between Connecticut and Northeastern has been postponed to Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Freitas Ice Forum.

Boston College’s women’s and mens’ basketball games against Southern New Hampshire have been postponed to Sunday.end of story marker
