Baghdad (NINA) – Iraqi Scholars Group affirmed its continued rejection of arming any group outside the law and under whatever title or any cause because such action would create a gap between the society's components.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Feb. 6, the Group expressed surprise over establishing armed groups at this time, where elements of sectarian commotion are waiting to harm social peace.
In its statement, the Group said that the country is not in need for armed groups outside the state's authority and control. What we are in need for is to implement the law in a just way and to support security agencies to carry out their task without discrimination to enable them protects the whole society.
It called on the government to deal in a heavy-handed way against all kinds of armed groups and treat them as being outlaw.
Few days ago, Secretary General of Iraqi Hizbullah, Wathiq al-Batat, announced the formation of "al-Mokhtar Army" to support the government in fighting corruption and Qaeda organization.
On 8 January, Iraqi Hizbullah threatened to annihilate the Baathists if the De-Bathification Law is abolished, and called for demonstration supporting the keeping of Article 4/ terrorism. / End.
