PARIS, New York...Wee Waa?
The wildly anticipated new record from French electronic music superstars Daft Punk will be given its global launch at the Wee Waa show on May 17.
Thousands of fans are expected to join the locals at the annual show in Australia's cotton capital - about 8 hours from Sydney in north-western NSW, for the first playback of the Random Access Memories album in the world.
As the sun sets on the local showground, Sony will start playing Random Access Memories from a purpose-built stage as the town gears up for the weekend-long show festivities.
Details of the launch party are remaining top secret for now, with plans expected to attract international attention to the rural town.
It is believed the unusual setting was inspired by the community spirit surrounding the recording of the album by Daft Punk's Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter.

The pair have been pushing the boundaries of the electronic genre for the past two decades and enlisted a host of A-list collaborators for their new record including Giorgio Moroder, Nile Rodgers and Todd Edwards.
Sony Music approached the duo's representatives and town council about staging the global launch party in Wee Waa in keeping with Daft Punk's aethetic of breaking down barriers.

Wee Waa has a current population of 2100 people, with the show staged each year around the cotton harvest.
