Abbas: Israel agreed to let refugees into West Bank from Syria
Published Monday 21/01/2013 (updated) 23/01/2013 16:34
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israel agreed to allow 150,000 Palestinian refugees in Syria to return to the West Bank, President Mahmoud Abbas said in an interview with Al-Mayadeen satellite channel on Monday.

The offer was reportedly made last week, but Abbas rejected an Israeli condition which would force refugees to sign a statement saying that they would give up the right of return to Israel, according to The Associated Press.

The president said it was better to die in Syria than give up the right of return, The AP reported.

In a two-hour interview Monday with the Beirut-based Al-Mayadeen, Abbas said efforts were ongoing to return secretary-general of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine Nayif Hawatmeh from Syria to Palestine.

The president also discussed veteran Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat and said there were plots to kill the PLO official. Israel has exerted great efforts to get rid of Erekat, who "knows more information than he should know," Abbas said.

Abbas also defended his doctoral thesis about the relationship between Zionists and the Nazi party in Germany, saying he "challenges anyone who can deny that the Zionist movement had ties with the Nazis before World War II."

Speaking about his own party Fatah, Abbas said the movement should awaken.

The Palestinian people, said Abbas, have waited long, and in return they were awarded meagerly. "The question of Palestine is a big question to the world, a great question to the Arabs, and a question of life and existence to the Palestinians."

The Haj al-Husseini, mufti and leader of the Muslim people in the former Ottoman Turk area identified as "Palestine", was an intimate of Hitler and spent the war (WWII) years in Germany before returning to Jerusalem. The two made an agreement to decimate the whole Jewish population of the Mideast once Germany was victorious in Europe. And Abbas writes a thesis about the relationship of Zionism and Nazi Germany...No wonder he cannot be trusted as a socalled "partner for peace".

Lucky you Abbas to bring your people under occupation and to add insult to injury you want them to sign a paper to abandon their homes like you abandoned your father's home in Safad .... the Palestinian people is much greater that your miserable PA which lives on cooperation with the zionist occupiers by providing the settlers security ..... the next intifada will be against the corrupt PA and that's why you are in horror !!

Why would 150,000 Palestinians want to leave a wonderful Arab state like Syria; and come live in the West Bank, under Israeli occupation? Maybe because the West Bank is a better place to live?

Way to go Abbas - Never, ever, ever let the refugees give up their lives under Arab apartheid for a better life. Let them and generations to come all rot in refugee camps from birth till death as refugees in Lebanon and Syria, that will show Israel, won't it. Way to show true leadership!

#5 Sami the Bodouin... maybe you should read the article again. It says very clearly: "Abbas rejected an Israeli condition which would force refugees to sign a statement saying that they would give up the right of return to Israel" which means (translated to bedouin language) that Abbas didn't want the Palestinians from Syria to "abandon their homes". Just keep up with the sheeps..
