In reply to “Hagel to Israel: Attacking Iran Will Be Considered After June Vote,” by Jason Ditz, 05/03/13:

The striking thing to me about US statements on Iran and other prospective victims of its military adventurism is that even the over-heated adjective “Hitlerian” doesn’t quite suffice to describe them.

Even as Hitler plotted the Austrian “Anschluss,” his annexation of the Sudetenland, his invasion of Poland, he put up a strong rhetorical front to the effect “trying to avoid confrontation.”

US officials make pro forma appeals to “negotiation” and such but are disconcertingly up-front with the bottom line: Do whatever we demand of you, as soon as we demand it, or maybe we’ll just whack you.

If there was any such thing as a real “international community,” each such statement would be followed quickly by an indictment at the Hague under Article II, Section 4 of the UN Charter (“All Members shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state”), and the US would be isolated and sanctioned until its officials knock[ed] that stuff off.

If Obama directly intervenes in Syria with bombs, drones, troops, and no fly zones, without specific Congressional authorization as to Syria; then Obama should be impeached or forced to resign from office. This administration is already indirectly aiding Al Qaeda in Syria. This administration has already installed Al Qaeda in Libya. After this series of actions by Obama one could not be faulted for questioning where Obama’s sympathies really lay. This military recklessness and interventionism is enough. Rep. Walter Jones needs to get a bill of impeachment ready.

There are opinions and there are facts.

The fact is that AIPAC neither endorses nor contributes money to candidates. It can’t under law. It’s not a political action committee; look it up.
