The CFDA and Vogue Team Up for Fashion for Sandy Relief
The Council of Fashion Designers and Vogue have joined forces to create Fashion for Sandy Relief. This initiative launched on November 13 with an exclusive online auction hosted on charitybuzz.com. Some of the once-in-a-lifetime offerings include taking in a fashion show with Vogue editor Anna Wintour, dining with Gwyneth Paltrow and Mario Batali, or spending seven days at Diane von Furstenberg’s home in the Bahamas. More biddable items will be added daily, so check out Charitybuzz.com/FashionforSandyRelief for the most updated list.
On November 16, The Tory Burch Foundation joined the CFDA and Vogue to hold a Fashion for Sandy Relief Designer Sale at the Metropolitan Pavilion. Participating brands included Tory Burch, Carolina Herrera, Theory, J.Crew, Diane von Furstenberg, Valentino and Marc Jacobs, among others. All proceeds from the auction and the designer sale will benefit the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City and other relief organizations in the tri-state area.

Condé Nast NY Marathoners Give Back on Staten Island
Within two hours of the cancelation of the New York City Marathon on November 4, a Facebook page called New York Runners in Support of Staten Island had sprung up to bring badly needed supplies to hard-hit areas of Staten Island such as New Dorp, Oakwood Heights and Crescent Beach. Condé Nast staff members were there, including Self editor-in-chief Lucy Danziger; Vanity Fair beauty director SunHee Grinnell; and Glamour’s Tracey Lomrantz, who blogged about her experience on Glamour.com, as did Grinnell for VanityFair.com.
