People can browse the App Center in the Facebook iOS app to find new apps. When people want to use a native iOS app that requires installation, they will be directed to download the app from the Apple App Store. The App Center is a great way to drive growth and this article will help you get your app setup for App Center.
This document walks through the following:
After meeting the requirements outlined in this document, you will be ready to submit your app for inclusion in the Facebook App Center as illustrated below.
Mobile apps must use Facebook Login to be eligible for display in the App Center. Only mobile apps that provide a seamless login process after clicking through the app detail page will be listed in the App Center. To integrate Facebook Login, follow the instructions in the Facebook Login how to documentation.
If you accept payments in your app, for inclusion in the App Center in the Facebook iOS app, you must have a native app and use iTunes payments. If you already have a web app and wish to build a native app quickly, you can accomplish this by using a tool like PhoneGap.
Now that you've fulfilled the iOS-specific requirements, you are now ready to follow the App Center Tutorial and complete your App Center submission.
Apps that include screenshots of what to expect are more likely to be installed by users. Developers can submit between 3 and 5 screenshots per platform.
Screenshots should display real gameplay and/or app flows, but not contain any marketing materials or banners. App Center supports screenshot dimensions between 320 x 320 to 2048 x 2048 pixels.
If the aspect ratio of a screenshot doesn't fit with aspect ratio of the display box in App Center, we will scale the screenshot so one dimension is perfectly fit and then crop and center the image accordingly.
Screenshots are chosen based on which device the user is using to view the page. If you are viewing the page on iPhone, iPhone screenshots get priority, for example.
There are 2 designs for screenshots layout:
App Center will use the latter layout only if all screenshots are landscape. Otherwise, the first layout is used and portrait screenshots always come before any landscape screenshots (so the first screenshot is always a portrait).
So before you submit your App Details page for inclusion to App Center, be sure to include clear, explanatory screenshots.
An example of a completed app details page with screenshots, as seen on the web, is shown below. From here, the user can use the Send to Mobile button to continue the installation process on their mobile device.
Screenshots are also used in the mobile version of the App Center, as illustrated in the Overview.
