Istanbul's governor: Two people wounded in clashes on Taksim Square

Two people were wounded in clashes between the protesters on Taksim Square in Istanbul and the police,governor of Istanbul Husein Avni Mutlu said on Tuesday, newspaper Sabah reported.

According to the governor, as a result of the use of firecrackers and smoke grenades by the protesters, a policeman and a civilian was wounded.

The protest rallies have been going on for 10 days on various cities of Turkey, against the reconstruction of Gezi park in Taksim square in Turkey's Ankara.

Earlier, the PM of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the protest rallies have ideological character, and are targeted against the country's government.
