The Times Company is strongly committed to protecting the environment in all of the communities in which it operates, and it continually strives to minimize and reduce waste and emissions whenever and wherever it is practical and possible to do so. In addition, the Company's primary business is journalism, and global warming and greenhouse gas emissions are topics that it covers extensively. The New York Times spotlights these issues on both its editorial and Op-Ed pages and throughout its news coverage.

We are committed to educational efforts, including use of our newspapers as a learning tool. The New York Times and The Boston Globe are active in supporting the Newspaper in Education program.
The Company supports cultural, educational, community service, journalistic and environmental organizations in New York, Boston and other locations.

The New York Times College Scholarship Program offers scholarship recipients the opportunity to honor an educator who has made the greatest difference to him or her educationally and personally.
We believe teachers do far more than teach. They inspire and support the dreams of their students.
The original program was funded by The Charles H. Revson Foundation. In recent years, The Abramson Family Foundation has sponsored the awards dinner at The New York Times Company. At the award dinner, each student speaks about how important the teacher was to him or her. The teachers then respond, often musing about their careers in education and about how much students mean to them. Teachers receive a plaque and a check for any purpose the teacher chooses. Many donate the funds to their schools. Several teachers have been selected multiple times. The Teachers Who Make a Difference are the hearts and souls of their schools. The New York Times is honored to be able to recognize their achievements.
