The New York Times Neediest Cases Fund has been recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a not-for-profit public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to the Neediest Cases Fund are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Federal Identification Number: 13-6066063. The Neediest Cases Fund, raises millions of dollars to help thousands of individuals and families in distress.

The assistance is rendered by seven New York City social service agencies.
