Launch of the international campaign for «Tunisia Pact of Rights and Freedom».
The Arab Institute for Human Rights launched on February 25th in Paris, the International Campaign to sign «Tunisia Pact of Rights and Freedom» under the motto: «Defend freedom and sign the Tunisia Pact for Rights and Freedom» with the participation of the «International Federation for Human Rights» and the web-site: «www.opinion-internationale.com ».
On this occasion, an evening ceremony was organized to the memory of the late Chokri Belaïd in «Déjazet» theater in Paris. It was attended by more than seven hundred guests and a number of Tunisian and French personalities, including: Mr. Iyadh Ben Achour and Mr. Robert Badinter, the former French Minister of Justice.
Such meeting was also attended by organizations which are partners in the Tunisia Pact for Rights and Freedom, namely: the «General Union of Tunisian Workers», the «Tunisian League for the Defense of Human Rights», the «Tunisian Association of Democratic Women», the «National Union of Tunisian Journalists», the «National body for lawyers in Tunisia» and the «Amnesty International Branch of Tunisia».
This event represents a starting point to collect signatures of the Tunisian community abroad as well as the international organizations.
