~7:28 “he’s an officer in the US armed forces…[so he] can’t just…fight for the other side with impunity. …”
Well, I’d have hoped nobody thinks they’re ‘fighting’ ‘with impunity.’ If you can’t get hit, it’s not really a ‘fight.’ He got wounded, right?
Also: if not think of “the chaos you would have in wartime.” !!!
I think ~’why not treat him as a POW?’ still stands after that answer. What the criminal charges evoke is the idea that obedience to them trumps conscience. And ‘we’ apparently had higher standards for dem-natsees. I gather we’re supposed to be horrified by comparisons-to-dem-natsees, but that’s a red herring: the issue I raised I stated just fine. Read it again if necessary. Why not just admit that what’s called ‘justice’ here is just war by other means?
‘We’ even skidaddle when collaborators won’t give ‘us’ criminal immunity anymore, so why charge criminally ‘the enemy?’ How are ‘we’ getting away with ‘them’ not charging ‘us?’ Er, well, imagine-the-chaos if that happened? That’s certainly their train-of-thought: that’s chaos they don’t want to bear, regardless if it’s right for them to bear it. What chaos is inflicted on dem-moozlims who can’t manage to press charges on US military members? Dish it out but can’t take it. It is exceptionalism, though it’s probably not uniquely American-Exceptionalism.
