Aberdeen brought Inverness's six-game unbeaten start to their Scottish Premiership campaign to an end with a 1-0 win at Pittodrie. The substitute Scott Vernon sent a fine strike past the on-loan Luton Town goalkeeper Dean Brill with 10 minutes remaining to seal victory.
Allan Johnston is still seeking his first win of the season as Kilmarnock manager despite a spirited comeback by his players against Partick Thistle. Thistle dominated the first half at Firhill and headed into half-time with a deserved lead after Aaron Muirhead successfully converted from the penalty spot. Killie threw themselves a lifeline after the break thanks to a Kris Boyd leveller early in the second half, but they could not find a second goal to secure that elusive victory and the match ended 1-1.
A late comeback by Ross County resulted in them claiming all three points against Hearts, as two goals in the last two minutes gave them a dramatic 2-1 victory at the Global Energy Stadium. County appeared beaten as Hearts led 1-0 thanks to Callum Paterson's goal midway through the first half, after the home side had dominated play.
Despite their fightback, County did not look like they were going to score until a dramatic finish. The substitute Melvin De Leeuw turned the game their way with a goal in the 89th minute before he crossed for Richard Brittain to head home in injury time.
St Mirren lost 2-0 to Hibernian at Easter Road as they extended to six their miserable run of games without a victory. There was little sign of an improvement in performance and the Buddies produced another poor defensive showing as James Collins and Paul Heffernan scored for the hosts.
After the match, Danny Lennon challenged the chairman, Stewart Gilmour, to explain just who could come in and do a better job than he is currently mustering. He said: "If I did not believe I was the man for this job, I wouldn't be sitting here. If that decision is taken away from me and I'm no longer required at this club, then my question would be: what is it that they want the new man to come in and achieve?"
