Alex Whiting joined the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s editorial team in July 2005, focusing on conflicts and humanitarian crises, women's rights and corruption. Before that she was assistant editor of Panos Features and correspondent of Gemini News Service, specialising in trade, aid and development. She began her career making TV documentaries for the BBC and Britain's Channel 4. She has an MA in Middle Eastern studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies.
