Head of the National Council for Women Rights Mervat al-Talawy asked on Thursday for an urgent meeting with interim President Adli Masnour and Prime Minister Hazem el-Beblawi.

Talawy stressed to the state news agency the importance of not undermining women rights or neglecting or marginalizing them, as happened under the former regime.

She explained that the council plans to form a committee that includes representatives from NGOs, intellectuals, experts and activists in the field of women’s rights.

The committee will also include representatives from different political parties and youth movements and will aim to unite efforts to draft a roadmap for the future.

She announced a new media outlet to document and monitor all issues related to women and respond to violations of dignity and rights.
