A session conducted by the 50-member committee charged with amending Egypt's suspended constitution.

Egypt's 50-member committee, charged with amending the country's suspended constitution, approved on Sunday the allocation of 25 percent of its municipalities' seats to women and another 25 percent to youth.

The municipalities, local elected bodies across Egyptians governorates, held its last elections in 2008, prior to the January uprising that ousted former autocratic President Hosni Mubarak.

Committee members, Mona Zulfaqar and Nahed Abul Komasan, had filed a request for adopting women's quota in all elected assemblies.
