Egypt's Social Solidarity Minister, Ahmed al-Borai, issued on Wednesday an irrevocable decision dissolving the Muslim Brotherhood Society, which was registered as a non-governmental organization in March 2013, reported the state news agency.

The Muslim Brotherhood Society was headed by former Brotherhood supreme Guide Mahdi Akef, who is now in jail for accusations of inciting violence, as well as many other leading figures from the Islamist group.

The minister's decision came to implement a September 23 court verdict ordering the dissolution of the Muslim Brotherhood Society, banning all its activities and freezing all of its assets.

Borai will hold a press conference later on Wednesday to reveal more details on his decision.
