Iraq Primary School Among Targets For Suicide Bombers; 64 Killed, 192 Wounded

Suicide bombers staged a horrific attack against a tiny village in northern Iraq. Meanwhile, Shi’ite pilgrims were again targeted in Baghdad. Overall, at least 64 people were killed and 192 more were wounded.

Two suicide bombers attacked a primary school and police station in the small, Shi’ite Turkmen village of Qabak, near Tal Afar. They killed at least 24 people, mostly children, and their headmaster. About 121 more people were wounded, and many may be trapped in the rubble left by the school.

In Baghdad, a suicide bomber killed 14 pilgrims as they traveled through Waziriya to reach a Shi’ite shrine; at least 34 others were wounded. Seven people were killed and 13 more were wounded when two bombs exploded near a husseiniya in Baghdad al-Jadida. A bomb in Qayara left one dead and seven wounded. Gunmen wounded four pilgrims in Malhanya.

At a checkpoint in Amiriyat al-Falluja, two gunmen were killed and a policeman was wounded. Three policemen were killed and a fourth was wounded at another checkpoint.

Five gunmen were killed, including an al-Qaeda leader during an attack on a Jurf al-Sakhar checkpoint.

A roadside bomb in Ramadi killed three policemen and wounded one more.

One national policeman was killed and three more were wounded in a blast in Dour.

In Kirkuk, two blasts killed a Kurdish security member and wounded three civilians.

A farmer and his wife were wounded in a drive-by shooting in Abu Saida.

A bomb targeting local leader in Suleiman Bek wounded one bodyguard.

One gunmen was wounded during a raid near Qaim.
