Tanzania reaffirms its support for an independent Western Sahara

Dar es Salaam, May 10, 2012 (SPS) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Tanzania, Bernard Membe, confirmed Wednesday the firm position of his country to support the just struggle of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence.

In press conference held in Dar es Salaam on issues of Africa, Membe said Tanzania supports an independent Western Sahara.

From his part, Ambassador of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic to Dar es Salaam, Brahim Buseif, said the minister's statement refuted allegations recently published by the Moroccan news agency over the support of parliamentarians from Tanzania to Morocco in the Western Sahara conflict.(SPS)
