After recent civil war divided Ivory Coast's communities, some in Ivory Coast look to local water management as a key to reconciliation, social cohesion and long-lasting peace.

As the Ivorian government struggles to implement the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to mend communal divisions after the civil war, Ivory Coast communities are already working towards peace on one very important issue: water. Water management committees are making real strides to heal Ivory Coast communities and promote peace after the civil war. Now they need support from the Ivorian government.

This project is part of a collaborative investigation into water access in West Africa in partnership with journalists from Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia and the United States (http://bit.ly/Ls69yF).

This report is part of Pulitzer Center-sponsored project "Finding Home Again in Ivory Coast" (http://bit.ly/H5Gbuf)
