It added that al-Maliki will discuss, during his meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama on Friday, expanding the horizons of cooperation between the two countries in accordance with the strategic framework agreement, in addition to a discussion of the risks facing Iraq, coming from Syria.

Al- Destoor newspaper has addressed Maliki's visit under the title / the pilgrimage season of Iraqi politicians to America starts/
The newspaper said : "Prime Minister, Nuri al-Maliki is due to arrive Washington on Wednesday 30 Oct in response to an official invitation from the U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden that Maliki tries to exploit this visit, especially in the Syrian crisis and its repercussions. "

It quoted Ali al-Moussawi, media adviser to Maliki as saying : " The Iraqi efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis through diplomacy are in the interests of Iraq first, because the continuation of the situation as it is now will lead to more complexity and deterioration of security in the region."
