The Thomas Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress is always an awe-inspiring place to visit, but there’s that sad moment on the tour when you’re only allowed to peer into the Main Reading Room. For bibliophiles, it feels like being excluded from paradise.

Well, your chance to enter the Holy of Holies is almost here. On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, the Main Reading Room will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can even take photos, and the librarians will be happy to answer your questions about this wondrous national treasure.

While you’re there, you’ll also want to see “The Civil War in America” exhibit, which includes the Nicolay copy of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
