TEHRAN, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Five members of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) were killed in a clash with " terrorist" groups in Iran's western Kurdistan province on Thursday evening, semi-official Mehr news agency reported.
In the clash erupted in one of the villages of Baneh town in the province, two other members of the IRGC's Beit al-Moqaddas unit in Kurdistan were seriously wounded, the report said.
No more details are available about the incident, said Mehr, adding that the IRGC's senior commanders have held a meeting in Baneh to discuss the issue.
Over the past decades, Iran's Kurdistan province has been the hotbed of clashes between Iranian military forces and the armed groups of dissident Kurds. The bloody conflicts have claimed thousands of lives from both sides.
