Alex Ovechkin (sort of) injures Tom Wilson in postgame shaving-cream mishap

Tom Wilson earned his first NHL goal and assist Tuesday in the Caps’ 6-2 win against the Islanders. Standing tall and smiling for the cameras, Wilson began answering questions when the man who assisted on his goal, Alex Ovechkin, snuck up behind him with a towel full of shaving cream. And that’s when things went horribly wrong.

Ovechkin, who pulled the same stunt on rookie defenseman Connor Carrick earlier in the season, walked away shouting “WOOOOO!”

But Wilson hunched over, clutching his face. Wincing in pain, Wilson wiped his eyes, then disappeared into the washroom to clean up. The media, meanwhile, waited patiently to finish questioning the 19-year-old rookie about his first career points.

Wilson re-emerged a few minutes later, the cream wiped from his eyes, and squinted through the rest of the interview.

Word of warning to Nate Schmidt and Michael Latta, who have yet to score in the NHL: Ovi will get you.
