Water main break in White Oak could cause delays Sunday

Some lanes of the busy Route 29 are closed Sunday as a result of a water main break in the White Oak area.

Montgomery County police said only one lane is open in both directions of Route 29, from New Hampshire Avenue to Crestmoor Drive. Drivers should expect delays.

Kira Lewis, a spokeswoman for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission said crews are working to fix a 16-inch water main on Lockwood Drive, near Route 29.

She said crews were shutting off the water until the repairs can be completed. About 20 customers will be affected by the water shutoff and it will take four to six hours to repair, she said.
