An appropriately sparkly map of where people tweeted about the new Beyoncé album

In case there was any doubt as to exactly how surprising Beyoncé’s surprise album was, the fine people at Twitter have created the above, a sparkly illustration of where people tweeted about Bey in the hours before and after she dropped her latest project.

That bright white glow hits around 12:25 a.m. Friday morning and keeps glowing until after 2 a.m., at which point even Bey’s most hardcore fans presumably went to bed. Twitter says users sent more than 1.2 million tweets about the album in the 12 hours after it premiered. As of this afternoon, “Beyoncé” had sold an impressive 828,700 copies worldwide. (Almost none of them in Russia, if this map’s any indication.)
