Baghdad (NINA) – Deputy Chairman of Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee, Salman al-Jumaily, discussed with the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (SRSG) for Iraq, Nickolay Mladenov, the upcoming Parliamentary elections and political alliances, as well as the UN role toward making the election process successful.
The two touched on a number of political issues that concern Iraq, mainly participation in the upcoming elections and alliances that new government will be based on.
Jumaily stressed the necessity for active participation in the election to realized parts of the Iraqis’ desires.
He emphasized the necessity for pre emptive measures to make the election process successful, mainly security, stability and respect to the citizens’ will in choosing the political force that to represents them, in addition not to use public fund and authority in political propaganda.
As for political alliances, Jumaily stressed that Motahidoon enjoys good relations with all active political forces and that the new alliances depend on the election’s outcome.
For his part, Mladenov asserted that the UN continues supporting the political process and is ready to provide all help needed to make the upcoming election successful.
He added that the UN looks toward the upcoming election and its results with big interest since Iraq’s stability is within the area’s stability. / End.
