Baghdad (NINA)- The current month of April can be classified as the bloodiest since the beginning of 2009 given the bombings and the suicide attacks that took place across.
According to a National Iraqi News Agency's statistics, the provinces of Baghdad, Diyala and Nineveh have witnessed most violence among Iraq's provinces.
Although the arrest of Emir –leader- of the so-called "Islamic State of Iraq" Abu-Omar al-Baghdadi was announced on April 23rd, bombings and suicide attacks remarkably increased, as 40 security incidents of car bombs, improvised explosive devices, adhesive explosive devices, suicide operations, mortar shelling and grenade attacks took place in Baghdad.
Baghdad attacks have claimed lives of as many as 180 persons and 466 others were wounded. The number of car bombings reached 13, the IEDs 16 in addition to three suicide attacks. Violence surged in the 2nd half of April than its 1st 15 days.
As for Mosul, the centre of Nineveh province, it has witnessed 25 attacks; nine IEDs, nine car explosions, five armed attacks and two suicide attacks, leaving 13 killed and 11 wounded individuals.
While in Diyala province, 31 attacks were launched; 24 of them were by IEDs, one car bombing, three suicide attacks, two armed attacks and several mortar attacks, leaving 38 people killed and a further 135 wounded. /End
