Morning Production Internship

The Takeaway is a national morning radio news program produced by WNYC Radio and Public Radio International in partnership with the BBC World Service, New York Times Radio and WGBH Boston. We are currently accepting applications for Morning Production internships for Spring and Summer. This position helps with all things big and small, essential to making the live show run smoothly. Hours are approximately 5:30AM – 10:00AM, and entail assisting the control room and news hub while on air.
 
Qualifications:

  • Interest in national news reporting and live radio broadcast
  • Some news writing or journalism experience preferred
  • Ability to commit 1 or more days a week for a 4 to 6 month period
  • Willingness to learn digital audio editing

 
Morning Runner Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the production of The Takeaway between the hours of 5:30AM – 10:00AM
  • Greet and prep in studio guests
  • Act as liaison between control room, news hub and hosts
  • Assist in writing news script and watching wires
  • Occasional research and pitching of story ideas
  • Additional tasks to support hosts and production staff as needed

News Futures Internship

Qualifications:

  • Interest in national news reporting and live radio broadcast
  • Some news writing or journalism experience preferred
  • Ability to commit 1 or more days a week for a 4 to 6 month period

Intern Responsibilities:

  • Locating and pulling sound for air
  • Pitching guests and story ideas
  • Maintaining future story/special event calendar
  • Sorting and classifying books, skimming books and pitching them as possible segments
  • Maintaining database of obituaries
