Today marked the 3rd coldest day in what is turning into a cold winter, with highs only in the lows 20s throughout the region. Following a bone-chilling overnight period, temperatures make a run towards freezing Saturday, but not without the threat of snow showers.
Through Tonight: Clouds slowly increase overnight. It’s not as cold as last night, but still a lot colder than normal, with lows from 10 in the colder suburbs to 15 downtown. Winds are from the south at around 10 mph. In some of our colder suburbs, wind chills from 0 to -5 are possible – with single digit wind chills elsewhere.
Tomorrow (Saturday): Cloudy and breezy, with a chance of intermittent snow showers. The best chance of snow is from late morning through late afternoon and in the northern suburbs. An inch or so is possible north and east of Montgomery County, with a dusting to an inch in the immediate metro region. Some areas, especially south of town, may see little or no snow. Temperatures rebound into the upper 20s (north and west of town) to the low 30s (in the city and to the south and east).

Saturday night: Behind Saturday’s snow shower disturbance, it turns windy and bitter cold. Lows range from the high single digits in the colder suburbs to the mid-teens downtown. Winds pick up out of the northwest at 10-15 mph, with some gusts to 20-30 mph. Wind chills dip near and below zero, likely prompting a new round of wind chill advisories.
Sunday: Mostly sunny in the morning followed by increasing clouds. Cold? Absolutely. Highs range from 24-29, from northwest to southeast across the metro region. Winds from the west at around 10 mph become out of the south in the afternoon.
