Jordan hired as running backs coach

The Washington Redskins have hired Randy Jordan as their running backs coach.

The team confirmed the hiring Saturday night.

Jordan had been the running backs coach at the University of North Carolina. He has NFL coaching experience, as a special teams assistant with the Oakland Raiders. He played nine seasons in the NFL for the Los Angeles and Oakland Raiders and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Redskins also interviewed Earnest Byner for the job but went with Jordan. He joins an offensive coaching staff that includes offensive coordinator Sean McVay, offensive line coach Chris Foerster, wide receivers coach Ike Hilliard and tight ends coach Wes Phillips.
