Masr El-Horreya is a liberal party whose cornerstone is Amr Hamzawy, researcher and political science professor at Cairo University. Hamzawy is one of 18 figures who founded the party.

The party, established after the January 25 revolution, says that it proceeds from the principles of citizenship and equality between all Egyptians.

These principles demonstrate the party’s belief in contributing to building a democratic society in Egypt, regaining respect for human dignity of Egyptians, and establishing the rule of law as well as peaceful transfer of power on both local and national levels.
