Views on whether he prefers a religious or a civil state

He said "A modern civil state inspired by Sahria - in agreement with moral principles of monotheistic faiths - that allows for the reactivation of Egypt's regional role in the Middle East, Africa and Islamic region."

Views on Camp David Accord between Egypt and Israel

He said  “There are no eternal international agreements. Camp David will be put to the public again for them to decide whether the accord should be maintained, called off or amended.”

His political and intellectual views

He said “I am a conservative liberal leaning towards the Left. I am religiously conservative not politically, and liberal in the sense that I am inclined towards providing more freedoms and this is related to my values and concepts. I lean towards the Left as well because I belong to the working class”. He also added in another occasion “I am proud of my moderate Islamist tendency and consider it to be part of me.”

Views on culture

He said “My presidential programme focuses on aspects of cultural and national unity.”

Views on women rights

He said "women have participated in the revolution along side men therefore women can not be excluded from the political or the social spheres as used to happen before under the former regime. I commit myself to appoint 40% of the leadership position from youth and women"

Views on political system and presidential powers

He said "I won't run for presidency if the constitution subscribed to a parliamentary system and not presidential. I won't accept a symbolic position. My aim is to serve the citizens of Egypt."

Views on education and scientific research

He said “Schools and universities are not only for education but for upbringing the young as well. We will establish a new cadre for teachers, end private lessons and revive basic education.”

Views on privatization
