Customs Rules

Import regulations::

Free import for all passengers as of 18 years of age (passengers below 18 years of age are allowed half the specified quantities of all products other than tobacco and alcoholic beverages):
a. 800 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 100 cigarillos or 1,000 grammes of tobacco;
b. 2 litres of champagne, whisky or cognac or a max. of 4 litres of other alcoholic beverages;
c. 1 litre of eau de cologne and 100 grammes of perfume;
d. medicine (in prescribed dosages for personal use).
e. personal belongings in non-commercial quantities without exceeding a total value of LBP 2,000,000.-.
Persons below the age of 18 are allowed half , the import of which is not allowed.

Free import for crew and Merchant Seamen:
a. 20 cigarettes only, in open package(s) - no other tobacco articles;
b. no alcoholic beverages;
c. a reasonable quantity of perfume.

Export regulations::

Free export of an unlimited quantity of tobacco products and alcoholic beverages.

Antiquities require an export licence.

Pets::

All live animals must be accompanied by a valid health certificate, issued by a veterinarian in the country of origin. This certificate is to be approved and stamped by an appropriate government authority of that country. A Rabies Inoculation Certificate is also required.

Baggage Clearance regulations::

Baggage is cleared at the first airport of entry in Lebanon.

Exempt: baggage of transit passengers with a destination outside of Lebanon, provided the onward flight is on the same calendar day.



Airport Embarkation Tax

1. Exit Tax is levied on all passengers leaving Lebanon travelling:
a. First class: LBP 100,000.- or equivalent in foreign currencies.
b. Business class: LBP 75,000.- or equivalent in foreign currencies.
c. Economy class: LBP 50,000.- or equivalent in foreign currencies.
Place of payment: At ticket issuance or at the airport of departure.
Exempt:
1. Persons visiting Lebanon upon official government invitation.
2. Lebanese government representatives on official missions abroad holding official documents.
3. Heads of diplomatic delegations, consuls, secretaries, attaches accredited to Lebanon.
4. Technical and military attaches accredited to Lebanon.
5. General Consuls and consular representatives accredited to Lebanon.
6. UN staff and their families residing in Lebanon and UN staff on official missions, all holding UN passports.
7. Infants less than 2 years of age.
8. Transit passengers staying less than 24 hours.
2.Departure Tax (LBP 5,000) is levied on all passengers leaving Lebanon by air or sea. A departure stamp will be affixed on all tickets of departing passengers. This tax is not refundable. Non compliance of affixing this stamp to the ticket(s) will result in a fine of LBP 25,000 in addition to the costs of the stamp.
Place of payment: Ministry of Finance.



Currency rules

Currency Import regulations:

Local currency (Lebanese Pound-LBP) and foreign currencies in any form without restrictions. Gold coins must be declared.

Currency Export regulations:

Local currency (Lebanese Pound-LBP) and foreign currencies in any form without restrictions, with the exception of gold coins. However, if a quantity of gold (coins) is declared on arrival, the same quantity may be exported.
