Capitol Hill’s Blind Bodybuilder visits NBC’s Today Show

Patrick Leahy, the blind bodybuilder featured in The Washington Post magazine last June, will be on NBC’s Today show Thursday morning in the 10 a.m. hour to chat with hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb. The show invites readers to apply for its “Everyone has a story” segment and Leahy’s brother submitted an essay titled: “My brother: the blind bodybuilder” that was selected by the show’s producers and led to Thursday’s appearance.

Leahy will be on the show with his brother and his parents. “ I’m really looking forward to our time on the show,”  the Capitol Hill resident wrote in an email. “As with the Post story, it’s an excellent opportunity to inspire others, especially kids with disabilities.” Leahy is working on a documentary about his life that he hopes will help kids with disabilities get involved in sports.

“A chance to tell our story on national TV is what it’s all about,” Leahy writes. “My brother, dad, and mom are coming on the show with me. Their help is what has gotten me here… also my friends, coaches, and trainers.”
