Matthew Crawley
Viewers spent two seasons waiting for Matthew Crawley (Dan Stevens), introduced in Season 1 as Downton’s heir, and Lady Mary Crawley (Michelle Dockery) to end up together. At the end of Season 3, Matthew died tragically in a car accident on his way home to visit Lady Mary, then his wife, and their newborn son. Stevens decided to leave the show to maintain a full film schedule in 2014. He will star in the indie drama “The Cobbler” and has signed on to act in “Night at the Museum 3.”
