AIPAC Backs Down, Now Rejects Vote on Iran Sanctions
Senate Vote Remains Split Along Party Lines
Major Israeli Lobby AIPAC has backed down in dramatic fashion today, issuing a new statement saying it no longer favors an immediate vote on new sanctions against Iran, a bill that seems stuck in the Senate.
AIPAC praised Senate hawks for authoring the bill, but said that there “should not be a vote at this time,” and that they remain committed to seeing Iran’s nuclear program dismantled.
The sanctions bill aimed at derailing ongoing negotiations with Iran on a final settlement of the nuclear issue by violating the interim P5+1 deal. The bill’s support now seems split almost entirely along party lines, with Republicans demanding an immediate vote and Democrat leaders pushing a petition against it.
Virtually the whole Republican side of the aisle is pro sanctions, with Sen. Rand Paul (R – KY) a rare exception. Paul aimed to split the difference today, saying he doesn’t back the sanctions but also doesn’t believe any deals with Iran should be reached without formal permission from Congress.

The AIPAC hypocrites "remain committed to seeing Iran’s nuclear program dismantled". Iran who is a founding member of the NPT and yet AIPAC mentions nothing about Israel illegal WMDs stockpile at Dimona.

Where I adamantly oppose the Patriot Act, in confronting AIPAC, the neocons and all the other treasonous Israel firsters, it is high time that the Patriot Act and the RICO statutes be used to shut down these fifth columnists and imprison them.

The articles Mr. Ditz references from "The Hill" are enlightening. AIPAC must finally be realizing that US public opinion has turned against them in a big way, so they are backing off for now. It's also interesting that the sponsor of S.1881, AIPAC's bought-and-paid-for Senator Menendez, now does not want an immediate Senate vote. He again seems to be following AIPAC's directives. But my belief is that the 16 democrats, who too hastily jumped on the bandwagon, had to have received an earful from their constituents (as well as Obama), so they have all backed down from a vote. It is an election year, after all, for 1/3rd of the Senate and the Democrats are worried about losing control. But why are all the GOP co-sponsors, save one, continuing to press for a vote in spite of AIPAC's new directive? Obviously they are betting against Obama (as they always do), and hoping that the talks will fail. They must be viewing failed talks as a path to electoral victory in November. The stakes couldn't be higher.

Haim Saban backed his second term – and the most pro-Israeli lawmakers are on his team. Why?
"Our willingness to pursue diplomacy will make it easier to join our cause. If Iran fails to change course when presented with this choice by the United States it will be clear to the people of Iran and to the world that the Iranian regime is the author of its own isolation and that will strengthen our hand with Russia and China as we insist on stronger sanctions in the Security Council.”

I'd prefer to see one that said "AIPAC to register as agent of a foreign power" or better still "AIPAC executives deported, Zionist congresspersons soon to follow."

I noted that almost al republicans are pro sanctions. I wonder if they also were3 against extending unemployment to those lazy american who are unwilling to look for non existence jobs. It is time to fire our senators and let them take all that bribe money to their first love which clearly is not the USA.

I hope to read the news article which declares AIPAC a foreign organization and require it to follow the laws that apply to al foreign organizations. Israel is not part part of the United States. If one wants to live in Israel that is fine but leave the USA passport on departure.

EVERY member of AIPAC and EVERY Zionist-Israel first TRAITOR to the US in our Congress need to be put on a leaking boat for a one way sail to Israel.

It's fun for these scumbags to torment the weak, knowing nothing can be done back to them. These people are the ones screeching and braying the loudest whenever anyone finds a way to retaliate against their sadism.
Not that the democrats are better. If they were, you'd be hearing Obama saying what all his intelligence agencies keep telling him, which is that Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons, instead of what we hear Obama doing on the issue: lying his ass off and committing terrorism against Iran through threats and collective punishment of civilians. Evil man.
