Baghdad (NINA) – The meeting of the Kurdish political entities ended Monday, Feb. 21, when Al Taghier (change) slate withdrawn from the meeting, demanding the remaining parties to honor the items of the statement reached on January 19. The other parties agreed during the meeting to calm things down on the media, regarding the Sulaymaniya events last Thursday.
PUK, KDP, Taghier, Islamic Movement, and Islamic Union took part in the meeting which was called for after the Sulaymaniya events.
MP, Hameed Adel Bafi, from the Kurdish Alliance told NINA that “the meeting was necessary as the status in Sulaymaniya was not fine, a matter that had the Kurdish parties hold a meeting presided by Kurdish President Barzani.”
He went on to say that ”viewpoints were exchanged; debates via media outlets should stop, everyone should calm down, prevent the trouble makers from benefiting from the demonstrations, and the demonstrations are legal right.”
“Taghier issued a statement demanding a number of issues including dismissing the Kurdistan Parliament, government, and governmental institutions, which is an impossible thing,” he added.
For his part, Bayazid Hasan, member of Taghier, said “the Erbil meeting did not reach anything new, the participants did not agree on a second meeting.”
He told NINA that his slate insists on its demands as it is part of a road map that can solve all problems in the region. /End/
